We’re delighted to say that the Big Data Europe project is going to be taking part in the biggest open source software event in big data next week in Seville – appropriately enough also called Big Data Europe. Organised by the Linux Software Foundation, the event includes talks and discussions about the software that is driving the big data revolution. Two of the BDE team have talks on the main programme. Simon Scerri will talk about Demonstrating the Societal Value of Big & Smart Data Management on Monday at 11:00, and Axel Ngonga will talk about Unified Benchmarking of Big Data Platforms. This is in the context of the closely associated HOBBIT project in which Axel also participates.
And there’s more …
The Big Data Europe project is organising a side event on Monday at 16:30 Integrators at Work! Real-Life Applications of Apache Big Data Components. In this event, Hajira Jabeen, a key developer in the project, will explain how we’ve used Docker and Docker Swarm to create the highly flexible and powerful platform that allows you to create worksflows using a whole variety of software components, including, of course, things like Apache Flink, Apache Spark etc. Angelos Charalampidis will explain how this is being used in one of the project’s societal challenge pilots to a fully automated workflow that analyses satellite imagery to detect changes on the ground and then links those to events described in social and professional media.
Big Data Europe is proud to be a sponsor of Apache Big Data Europe – if you’re going, please be sure to stop by our stand!
