SC1 Hangout: Updating public databases: Automation and other challenges for consumers and creators
December 18 @ 14:00 - 15:00Free
Open PHACTS and Big Data Europe are excited to announce our final hangout for SC1: an online panel discussion about managing updates to public databases, coming up on Monday, 18 December, at 14:00 GMT / 15:00 CET.
Keeping databases up-to-date is a significant challenge with the rate at which many data sources are growing. Open PHACTS and Big Data Europe have organised this hangout to hold an open, informal discussion around keeping databases updated – from user needs, to the challenges of automation, to potential technical approaches underpinning key data sources.
Joining our panel will be representatives of major science data infrastructures, including Dr Evan Bolton, who manages the PubChem project at NCBI, and Professor Chris Evelo, Co-Founder and Director at WikiPathways. Join us to contribute your own questions and comments to the discussion; we are interested in hearing from anyone who uses or manages scientific databases, and ultimately we hope that we can all benefit from sharing insights, experiences and ideas in this area.
