WHAT: Fifth SC6 Webinar on “European Open Science Agenda: Quo Vadis?”

Fifth SC6 webinar was held on 30 May 2017. It was organised by the Consortium of Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA) from Norway and the Semantic Web Company (SWC) from Austria. Theme of the webinar was “European Open Science Agenda: Quo Vadis?” presented by Ron Dekker, Director of CESSDA.
Webinar lasted from 15:00 until 16:10 CET, and 21 people attended (out of 29 registered). General introduction of the Big Data Europe project, as well as final remarks, were provided by 2 moderators: the SC6 domain lead Ivana Ilijasic Versic from CESSDA, and CTO of the SWC and SC6 support technical partner, Martin Kaltenboeck.
Ron Dekker decomposed his presentation into 4 main parts. Presentation started with describing Open Science, its objectives and its tools, followed by the European Commission agenda on Open Science Policy. Then on the re-use of data and importance of standardised Data Management Plans. The presentation ended with a description of CESSDA’ objectives and its work in the context of the European Open Science Cloud.
The final part of the webinar was reserved for Q&A and participants used the opportunity to explore further some of the facts shared with them during the presentation. Webinar was closed with the announcement of related events following in the course of 2017.
